Many of us love fried chicken so much that when in town, mostly at the end of the month, we never miss to queue in fast food restaurants to try and quench our unquenchable appetite for chicken.
For those who thought KFC stands for Kikuyu Fried Chicken, just know you’ve been in the wrong all this long. This is what you dint know about this big, fast food restaurant KFC.

The initials KFC simply stands for (Kentucky Fried Chicken) and it’s a fast food restaurant chain that is mostly known for selling fried chicken. It is the world's second largest restaurant after McDonald’s and has its headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky in the United States.
KFC was founded by an entrepreneur Harland sanders who began selling fried chicken from his roadside restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky.  Sanders identified the potential of the restaurant franchise concept, and opened the first "Kentucky Fried Chicken" franchise in the Utah state in 1952. KFC mostly specialized in chicken making it stand out in the fast food industry, diversifying the market by challenging the established dominance of the hamburger. By branding himself as "Colonel Sanders," Harland became a prominent figure of American cultural history, and his image remains widely used in KFC’s logo and advertising. However, the company's rapid expansion saw it overwhelm the ageing Sanders, and in 1964 he sold the company to a group of investors led by John Y. Brown and Jack C Massey.

KFC is known to be one of the first fast food chains to expand internationally, opening outlets in Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Jamaica by the mid-1960s. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, KFC experienced mixed fortunes domestically, as it went through a series of changes in corporate ownership with little or no experience in the restaurant business.
KFC is believed to have expanded to Africa starting from the year 2010 and 2014 specifically in
Kenya. It also has a big market share in South Africa.
